Custom Paper Flowers

The FDR Four Freedoms Park was founded on the freedoms stated in President FDR’s 1941 State of the Union address: Freedom of Speech and Expression, Freedom from Want, Freedom from Fear, and Freedom of Worship. This particular year, the park’s annual event theme highlighted the first freedom: Freedom of Speech and Expression. All event speakers, hosts, décor, and installations supported and celebrated this theme.

I created these Custom Paper Flower Centerpieces with the full text of the first amendment on each flower petal. In order to give the paper flowers more depth, I varied the size of the text depending on the size of each petal. The text size also varied from the top to the bottom of the flower to create the illustion of growth. The flowers lit up from the inside as the night progressed.
